A 66-ton electric mining truck has begun a six-month trial at the Granny Smith mine, aiming to improve energy efficiency and safety by combining the advantages of both

Goldfields’ Granny Smith gold mine recently introduced an Epiroc 66-ton electric mining truck for a six-month performance trial. This truck combines the performance of electric vehicles with the practicality of diesel engines, increasing climbing speed by up to 11%, reducing fuel consumption by approximately 7%, and incorporating multiple safety features. The trial will comprehensively collect operational data to support the mine’s transition to safer, cleaner, and more efficient underground transportation. The mine currently has 19 megawatts of solar power installed capacity, and by September 2025, approximately 20% of its electricity will come from solar energy.

Born for extreme cold and complex terrain: How BEEZONE customized construction machinery for harsh working conditions in Russia

The bulldozer production project, led by the Sino-Russian joint venture BEEZONE, has moved beyond simple assembly. Currently, two Russian factories are deeply customizing and modifying the Chinese-made construction machinery to adapt it to the complex operating environments of different regions in Russia. This has enabled BEEZONE bulldozers to be successfully applied in Russia’s mining, oil and gas extraction, and various large-scale infrastructure construction sectors. Qiu Rong, Technical Director of Bizhuo Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., said: “Multiple advantages have enabled us to gain a foothold in the Russian market. First, we have continuously optimized the structure and adaptability of our equipment and improved operational efficiency by deepening cooperation with local factories. Second, we have been constantly updating our product line and launching new products such as high-power and fully hydraulic bulldozers. In addition, we have been steadily improving our after-sales service system to drive secondary sales with high-quality service. These factors together constitute our market competitiveness.”
